“When you discount a child from fantasy, it’s a very strong statement. You think, Wow, somebody made an entire movie with elves, and trees that talk, and things that fly, and there was no room for me.”

REPRESENTATION MATTERS

(via csrcalloway)

To all those white girls that reblogged that Scarlett Johanssen movie talking about how “revolutionary” it is for having a white woman as the lead but said nothing about the obvious racism

I’m looking at you

I’m joining in the staring because where the fuck were they with their cries of shit being revolutionary when the SAME writer/director released Columbiana? Starring Zoe Saldana three years ago?

I was thinking the same thing when I was seeing this “finally we get a strong heroine!” nonsense.

~Eon

I thought the same thing. There was someone who made an entire list describing Scarlett’s character including the fact that she does not have a love interest (unlike Zoe’s character, which outside of the obvious is one of the few differences between the two films), which they considered to be a “revolutionary” quality. I do agree, that this new film is in no way revolutionary compared to Columbiana.
